The opening of the topical GALI GALI CHOR HAI, starring Akshaye Khanna and Shriya Saran, was never expected to be bumper (unlike last Thursday’s AGNEEPATH). However, the 15-25 percent start at most centers was a disappointment. Additionally the film could not improve its collection much during the latter shows, despite a section of the audience liking it.

GALI GALI CHOR HAI and AGNEEPATH |
Was it the India-Australia Twenty20 cricket match, which plays havoc with smaller releases? Only time can tell. All the same the low budget GGCH may still impress, more so at the single screens and also in the Mumbai-Gujarat belt along with the smaller centers.
CHECK OUT: Agneepath Movie Review
Coming to the still strong AGNEEPATH (which will mar the prospects of GGCH further), the film netted a superb 88-90 crores (to be validated once collections are published) during the first extended run of eight days. The film has also grossed Rs. 15-16 crore during the opening 4-day weekend in the overseas.
Given the all inclusive cost of 75 crore (half of which has already been recovered from the non-theatrical tights), the film is a clean hit, and may achieve a super-hit status by netting in the range of 120-125 crore from India, at the end of its run. And that is likely to happen, as per the still strong buzz about the film.
