It is a known fact in Bollywood that while a few films begin as a proposal, some are a result of a filmmaker’s passion. On the other hand, time and again one hears about certain chance encounters and ideas that led to the making of certain films. KISMET LOVE PAISA DILLI is one such film. Reason being that it was one casual evening with his wife that resulted in writer-director Sanjay Khanduri arriving at the idea of this film.

”During the years gone by, Sanjay had dabbled with quite a few ideas. However he wanted something striking indeed to kick-start his next film. It had to be special since the break was a little long and for his second directorial outing he wanted to adopt a no-compromise stance,” says a friend of the director.
These were also the days when he was bouncing off some of these ideas to his wife as well. Though she is not related to the world of films, she took keen interest in her husband’s profession. This is how the idea of KISMAT LOVE PAISA DILLI was born.

”That’s true. It was indeed my wife who suggested that I should go ahead and make a sequel to EK CHALIS KI LAST LOCAL. I wasn’t too sure but she said that it could be done. This isn’t all as she even gave me one or two ideas. Even though she slept off, I turned sleepless,” laughs Sanjay, ”I thought that yeah, there indeed was a possibility and since it is my franchise, I could set it in a different city. Guess what, around four in the morning, I had my first scene ready.”
Though it’s a different matter that what started off as 11:40 KI LAST METRO was soon rechristened to KISMAT LOVE… (with Vivek Oberoi and Mallika Sherawat joining soon after), the adage of ‘Behind every successful man is a woman’ indeed turned true for Sanjay.
