HATE STORY fame Paoli Dam ditches being bold with BAGA BEACH

Early last year, she redefined boldness with her uninhibited act in what stays on to be inarguably the most erotic thriller ever made in Bollywood, HATE STORY. Paoli Dam, the award winning actress, refrained from overstaying her welcome in that mould though and decided to lie low than pick up more films in the same genre. Now, she would be seen in BAGA BEACH.

“While HATE STORY was a revenge saga, BAGA BEACH, as the name suggests, is set in Goa. From being a flowery tourist destination, the city’s dark side is shown in the film, what with drug rackets, bias against ‘outsider migrants’, its underbelly and international mafia’s penetration in the city being exposed. Not just that as the film also uncovers the dark tales of paedophiles,” informs a source.

In the film Paoli plays a middle class young woman who aspires to turn big and make a place for herself in the city. Directed by Laxmikant Shetgaonkar, the film had gone on floors in 2012 a few months after HATE STORY turned out to be a surprise success at the box office.

Says Paoli, who has already been seen in four Bengali films (HOI CHOI, SWEETHEART, PROMOTION, FAMILY ALBUM) this year, “As an actress if you go on experimenting with different films then you don’t know what strikes next. BAGA BEACH is one such experiment.”

BAGA BEACH is currently making the rounds of the festival circuit and yesterday, it was screened in Indian Panorama Section at the IFFI, Goa.
