Eminent actor, producer and director Randhir Kapoor turns 67 on February 15. Glamsham.Com extends him birthday greetings and takes a peek into his early days when he rebelled against the Kapoor clan to marry his lady love, actress Babita.
Randhir Kapoor, the eldest son of legendary actor and filmmaker Raj Kapoor made his debut in films at a young age as child actor in SHREE 420 and later in DO USTAD, in which he played the role of young Raj Kapoor.

Subsequently, he made his debut as an actor-cum-director in KAL AAJ AUR KAL featuring three generations of the Kapoor clan viz. Prithviraj Kapoor, Raj Kapoor and Randhir Kapoor. Interestingly the movie also had Babita, who later became the bahu ( daughter in law) of the Kapoor family. But how Randhir Kapoor got married to Babita is an interesting tale.
Randhir Kapoor and Babita fell in love when the duo was in college and had decided to marry, but since Babita was an actress was a big hurdle for Randhir Kapoor as the Kapoor family had reservations about an actress being their daughter- in-law. Hence, when Randhir Kapoor made his debut with KAL AAJ AUR KAL he cunningly roped in Babita as the heroine, hoping that Babita will win over the hearts of papa (Raj Kapoor) and dadaji (Prithivraj Kapoor) during the making of the movie.

But the idea did not click because after the movie when Randhir Kapoor expressed his desire to marry Babita, both Raj Kapoor and Prithivraj Kapoor were furious and declined his request. However Randhir Kapoor rebelled against the family’s tradition and was adamant to marry Babita only or commit suicide!
Eventually the Kapoor khandaan gave in and gave his nod to the marriage, but on condition that Babita would have to quit her film career. Babita obliged and the two tied the knot!
