There is so much that has been happening around us for years regarding various things around the world, across communities, cultures, and societies, especially in India, and specifically, in Jammu & Kashmir, about the atrocities people, there have faced. It is the most breathtakingly beautiful place in India and perhaps worldwide, which has always remained in the headlines for reasons more than one. Hence, it also becomes imperative to let the world know about the many hidden pains behind the place’s beauty. To fulfill this responsibility, a promising new short film has been made with Kashmir as its backdrop, showcasing raw and real stories.
The world of entertainment has always come up with projects that have the power to attract the maximum attention of people towards things that really need their attention. Producer and ace J&K entrepreneur Syed Ali Asgar Razvi has tried to do the same with this short film titled ‘Yamberzal’, which is ready to hit the global film festivals. The film is written and directed by Raja Sarfaraz and made under Farah Film Production. Producer Syed Ali Asgar Razvi says that the short film is based on the struggles a poor orphan boy faces in education in the union territory. It also showcases the challenges of the global health pandemic, problems of less infrastructure, terrorism, and lost social faith.
Further, he mentions that the film showcases a love story of a Kashmiri Hindu Pandit school teacher with a student and is also about a police officer and how the story takes a turn from there. It is a 30-minute short film, and Part 2 will also be shot in Kashmir. It stars Ali Razvi, Ahmad bin Umar as the lead, Jameela Akhtar, and Shadab Khan. Yamberzal is shot beautifully by DOP Vikram Mehta. The actors look mesmerizing in costumes by Nargis Avan, and the music by Ash K adds more impact to the film’s storyline.
Yamberzal will be first showcased at International and National Film Festivals, which will take Jammu and Kashmir’s Cinema to new heights and then be released on OTT.
