Vicky Kaushal fans are eagerly awaiting his upcoming film Chhaava, but the writer of Sky Force, Niren Bhatt, has recently shared insights into his intense preparation for Kaushal’s next, the mythological epic Mahavatar. Bhatt, who penned Sky Force, is shifting his focus to Mahavatar, a film centered on the life of Chiranjeevi Parashurama, the sixth incarnation of Lord Vishnu. He acknowledged that the film represents a “new genre” for him and director Amar Kaushik, emphasizing the immense responsibility they both feel in portraying Parashurama’s story accurately.
The script is rooted in ancient texts, particularly the Bhagavata Purana, and 11 other scriptures that delve into the mythological figure’s life. Bhatt revealed that while these texts are rarely read by the general public, they are primarily used in religious rituals and pujas. He admitted that creating a mythological film requires immense research, much like Sky Force, which involved meticulous work on the Armed Forces. Bhatt believes accuracy is crucial for both genres, and he has already read numerous ancient plays and novels to ensure that Parashurama’s portrayal is as authentic as possible.
Additionally, Bhatt shared his experience working on Sky Force, where he meticulously crafted the story of an Air Force officer who went missing in action. The film required a deep dive into military jargon, body language, and conduct, with an Indian Air Force pilot helping to validate the script. Sky Force was a tribute to real-life heroes, and Bhatt ensured every detail was authentic. Mahavatar, starring Vicky Kaushal, is set to begin production next year, with a release slated for Christmas 2026.
