Amazon MX Player’s StreamNext 2025 Unveils ‘First Copy’ with Munawar Faruqui and Gulshan Grover. Amazon MX Player’s StreamNext 2025 took place on January 30 at a five-star hotel in Mumbai, bringing together some of the biggest names in entertainment. It may have begun with a sluggish pace, but this event saw quick pick-up and the show included stars such as Bobby Deol, Suniel Shetty, Malaika Arora, Remo D’Souza, and Saba Azad, who also came to publicize their future shows.
Yet, the most interesting announcement made during the evening was that of First Copy, featuring Munawar Faruqui and Gulshan Grover. Unlike the usual format of actor introductions, First Copy had a unique reveal. Munawar Faruqui walked on stage to introduce the show, only for Gulshan Grover to rise from the audience area with a mic in hand, responding to Munawar’s lines before joining him on stage. Their playful interaction set the tone for the show’s teaser, which was met with excitement and laughter.
Set in 1999, First Copy is a film centered around Munawar Faruqui character who pirates films for a living. The teaser humorously captures the era of bootlegged movies, showing Munawar copying a film onto a CD labeled HDDCS (1999)a reference to Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam, the iconic Sanjay Leela Bhansali film starring Salman Khan, Aishwarya Rai, and Ajay Devgn. Although the title of the movie is not referred to, a blurred poster can be seen in the background.
Munawar’s voiceover further explains how, back in 1999, pirated versions of films had to be sourced from Dubai on Thursdays to be available in India by Friday, the official release day. Besides Munawar Faruqui and Gulshan Grover, First Copy also includes Krystle Dsouza, Aashi Singh, Raza Murad, Saquib Ayub, Inaamulhaq, and Meiyang Chang. Writer-director Farhan Zamma and the cast later joined on stage for a photo session, which ended the exciting reveal for one of the most talked-about shows of the event.
