Kapil Sharma in trouble! Comedian slammed for ‘ma baap ki kabaddi’ joke amid Ranveer Allahbadia controversy

YouTubers Ranveer Allahbadia and Samay Raina are facing severe backlash following their controversial episode of India’s Got Latent, which has since been removed from YouTube. In the episode, Ranveer asked a contestant an inappropriate and shocking question: “Would you rather watch your parents have sex every day for the rest of your life or join in once to make it stop forever?” The remark sparked outrage, leading to complaints against Ranveer, Samay, and another judge, social media influencer Apoorva Makhija. In response to the public uproar, Samay deleted all videos related to the show from his channel.

Kapil Sharma Faces Criticism for ‘Maa Baap Ki Kabaddi’ Joke

Amid the controversy, another video featuring comedian Kapil Sharma went viral, adding fuel to the fire. On his popular show, Kapil made a comment about children waking up early to watch cricket, jokingly saying, “Cricket ka match shuru hona tha 4 baje, aur phir yeh maa baap ki kabaddi dekh ke so jaate hai.” This remark, likening parents to a kabaddi game, was met with mixed reactions. While some called for Kapil to face similar criticism as Ranveer and Samay, others defended him, saying his joke was ambiguous and left open to interpretation.

Celebrities Speak Out Against the Controversy

Several celebrities have weighed in on the controversy. AR Rahman, at the launch event of Chhaava, appeared to take a subtle dig at the YouTubers, stating, “This past week we have all seen what all happens when mouth opens.” Filmmaker Boney Kapoor also condemned the remarks, saying there should be limitations and self-censorship in public speech. He emphasized that freedom of speech should not extend to socially unacceptable content. Actor Rajpal Yadav, known for his comedic roles, called the situation “embarrassing” and stressed the importance of maintaining dignity in art, expressing shame over such videos being shared publicly.

The ongoing backlash highlights the growing scrutiny over content creators’ responsibility in maintaining socially acceptable standards.
