Anora, which features Mikey Madison in the title role, has become a huge box office hit after its stunning wins at the 97th Academy Awards on March 2. Directed by Sean Baker, the movie won five Oscars, among them Best Actress for Madison and Best Director for Baker. So far, Anora has made USD 42 million worldwide, including USD 16 million from the local audience and USD 26 million internationally. Though its box office is not as high as for some of Madison’s other movies, Anora has experienced a huge boost in ticket sales after the Oscars, especially abroad, where it has captured 61% of its total intake.

A Look at Madison’s Other Hits
Madison’s best-performing film to date is Quentin Tarantino’s Once Upon a Time in Hollywood. The ensemble film grossed USD 376 million worldwide, with USD 142 million in domestic sales and USD 234 million internationally. Compared to Scream 5, where Madison appeared as the villain Amber Freeman, which grossed USD 137 million worldwide. This horror movie also drew from an ardent fan base and genre popularity, accumulating USD 81 million in its domestic market as well as USD 56 million worldwide.
Anora: Madison’s New Landmark
While Anora shall not match Once Upon a Time in Hollywood’s or Scream 5’s commercial success, it is Madison’s new landmark as the title character. This success is positioning her as a first-rate actress who can carry a movie by herself. In post-Oscars interviews, Madison revealed that Anora’s success has opened the door to better offers, and she has an exciting future ahead in movies.
