Box Office shocker! Tumko Meri Kasam collects only Rs 15 lakh on day 1 – Is this the end?

Tumko Meri Kasam, a legal thriller inspired by real life and directed by Vikram Bhatt, released in cinemas on March 21, 2025. The film boasts an impressive cast with Anupam Kher and Esha Deol as the lead actors, ably supported by Adah Sharma and Ishwak Singh in supporting roles. Though the film promises strong performances, its box office release has been anything but strong.

Disappointing Start to the Legal Drama

Notwithstanding the star appeal of Deol and Kher, Tumko Meri Kasam started on a disappointing note at the box office with only Rs 15 lakh net collection on its opening day in India. One of the major reasons for the disappointing performance is the lack of promotion the film got. The absence of hype and promotional activities during its release made it hard for the audience to relate to the film. Although the trailer was out on March 4, it did not make much of an impact, and audiences have mostly turned towards other movies such as Chhaava and The Diplomat.

BOGO Offers to Boost Footfalls

In a bid to generate viewership interest and ticket sales, the producers of Tumko Meri Kasam launched a BUY-ONE-GET-ONE (BOGO) scheme for the first weekend. Released only on BookMyShow on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, the initiative seeks to generate footfalls at cinemas and infuse much-needed life into the movie. Even so, with this initiative in place, the film could not impress on opening day. With the Indian Premier League (IPL) just around the corner, competition for movie-goers’ attention is likely to pick up, which will further take a toll on the performance of the film.

The Road Ahead

Tumko Meri Kasam has a tough row to hoe, not just because of its poor opening but also because of stiff competition from other releases. It is competing with Chhaava and The Diplomat, both of which are running well, and will soon be eclipsed by the release of Salman Khan’s much-awaited Sikandar on March 30, 2025. Even with its court drama and emotional depth, Tumko Meri Kasam will have to register steady growth over the weekend to stay in the box office race.
