Chiyaan Vikram’s new action film, Veera Dheera Sooran, has failed to impress at the box office despite the positive word of mouth. Directed by SU Arun Kumar, the movie was well-encumbered before it was released and has since failed to create an impact.
Delayed Release and Box Office Collection
The film was delayed and was released only on March 27 with screenings starting late in the night. Additionally, the Hindi release has been delayed by four weeks because of financial problems between the producers and distributors. The movie had a small run on the first day, but was still able to rake in ₹3.4 crore. On Day 2, even with the complete Tamil release on March 28, the collections were flat, in the same bracket as the first day. The two-day box office collection comes to ₹6.65 crore, with most of the collection from Vikram’s home base of Tamil Nadu.
L2 Empuraan competition
Surprisingly, Veera Dheera Sooran has a stiff challenge from L2 Empuraan, featuring Mohanlal, which has impacted its business in some parts of Tamil Nadu. L2 Empuraan, released on March 27, has already made its presence felt, with the Malayalam film raking in ₹70 lakh on day one and ₹30 lakh on the second day in Tamil markets.
Film Details and Critical Response
Veera Dheera Sooran is penned and directed by SU Arun Kumar, who has a history of producing films such as Sethupathi, Sindhubaadh, and Chithha. SJ Suryah, Dushara Vijayan, and Suraj Venjaramo are also seen in key roles. The film is split into two halves, and the second half was released first. Even with the great story of the film and Vikram’s good performance, the disappointing box office show of the film is a subject of worry for the makers.
