Bollywood director Karan Johar recently relived the past by posting a sentimental throwback picture on Instagram, offering his fans a glimpse into the childhood of the popular director and his early interest in fashion.
A Glimpse from 1981
The picture, taken in 1981, also includes Karan’s mother Hiroo Johar and veteran Bollywood actress Zeenat Aman. Karan brought an interesting fact about the event to light in his caption that the event was a clothes show put together by his mother and some other ladies. For planning the event, they called on the services of a then-unknown young designer Abu Jani who was to go on and become a renowned figure in Indian fashion.

Karan jokingly remarked that he unknowingly “photobombed” the picture, standing in front of a young boy looking at Zeenat Aman. He further mentioned that he was impressed by the grandeur of the event and particularly relished the tea parties and tattles that ran alongside the exhibition. It was in these instances that his fascination with fashion and glamour first began, he feels.
