The actor revealed that she chose to freeze her eggs while preparing for her National Award winning film Mimi. Speaking on the Humans of Bombay podcast with Karishma Mehta, Kriti said she carefully planned the procedure during the time she was required to gain weight for the film. Since egg freezing can cause temporary bloating, she felt it was the right time to go ahead with it. She described it as a thoughtful decision that could give her more choices for the future and encouraged women to learn about the option if it is available to them.
Kriti said the idea of freezing her eggs had stayed with her after someone advised her that it could be one of the best gifts she could give herself. She explained that the medical procedure involves hormonal injections, which often lead to temporary bloating and weight changes. As she was already gaining weight for Mimi, she believed it was the most practical time to undergo the treatment. Looking back, she feels it was a smart decision because it allowed her to take an important step for her future without worrying about the physical changes. Egg freezing is a medical process in which a woman’s eggs are collected, frozen and safely stored so they can be used later if she wishes to have biological children. Many women choose this option to help preserve their fertility and keep more choices open for the future.
