In a world where cosmetic treatments such as Botox, fillers, and facelifts are the standard in the entertainment industry, actor Divya Khossla is breaking all the rules. In an exclusive chat with News18 Showsha, the Satyameva Jayate and Savi actress spoke her mind about unnatural beauty standards, decrying instead a call to be oneself.
“All Faces Look the Same Now”
Khossla didn’t mince words while reacting to the increasing number of cosmetic surgeries among actors. She condemned the homogenization of beauty, expressing that, “These days, all faces look pretty much the same. People who go to doctors in Mumbai look a certain way, and those who go to doctors in Dubai look a certain way. Based on someone’s face, you can even figure out which clinic they visited.
With a dash of humor, she said that beauty trends have gotten so formulaic that even the city and the clinic can be deducted from the outcome. Individuality, Divya said, is being sacrificed in search of perfection.
“Virgin Skin”: A Legacy From Her Mother
Sharing her own experience, Divya credited her devotion to organic beauty to her childhood. “I never felt any urge to fall into beauty stereotypes,” she explained. “My mother never even let me handle bleach, let alone apply it to my face.”
She cited Kylie Jenner, who has owned up to lip fillers since 2015, as an illustration of how such early enhancements can affect natural aging. “Kylie is young but aged way ahead of her time. We should all let ourselves age gracefully,” Divya further suggested.
Proud of Her Imperfections
Divya also spoke out against digital editing and AI corrections in photos. “Thoda imperfection toh hona chahiye,” she urged. “I tell my team not to over-retouch my pictures. Certain edited photos don’t even resemble me.”
Even after criticism about having a round face that does not fit into the industry’s definition of beauty, Divya continues to be unapologetic. “I like my face. I’m not obsessed with makeup or the mirror. We should rather focus on our inner beauty.”
Conclusion
In a world that is so focused on outward appearance, Divya Khossla’s philosophy on natural beauty, self-acceptance, and inner confidence is a welcome and long-needed counter-narrative.
