The much-awaited trailer of Sony Pictures Entertainment India’s Anaconda has released, and it gives the classic survival-thriller franchise a new, meta spin. Unlike previous versions, this reboot isn’t simply about fighting deadly snakes—it’s also about fighting midlife crises and making-movies-gone-wrong.
A Film About Making a Film Goes Horribly Wrong
Directed by Tom Gormican, the movie is about Doug (played by Jack Black) and Griff (Paul Rudd), two lifelong buddies who are stuck in midlife crises. In their efforts to recreate their favorite jungle adventure on the big screen, they embark on a mission to film a live-action Anaconda movie. Their project turns into a nightmare when a genuine giant Anaconda shows up, putting the crew through a life-or-death struggle for survival in the Amazon rainforest.
The trailer strikes a balance of creature-feature excitement and laugh-out-loud comedy, fuelled by Black and Rudd’s undeniable chemistry. With edge-of-the-seat suspense, comedic misadventures, and jungle mayhem, Anaconda guarantees an exciting combination of adventure, horror, and satire.
Star-Studded Cast and Creative Team
The movie also features Steve Zahn, Thandiwe Newton, Daniela Melchior, and Selton Mello in leading roles. It is produced by Brad Fuller, Andrew Form, Kevin Etten, and Tom Gormican, among others.
The original Anaconda (1997) had a documentary team—headed by Jennifer Lopez and Jon Voight—seized by a deranged hunter who was hell-bent on catching the mythical snake.
Release Details
Anaconda releases in theatres nationwide in India on 25th December 2025 in English, Hindi, Tamil, and Telugu. With its combination of unique genre and festive release, it’s going to be a wild ride for viewers during Christmas.
