The Summer I Turned Pretty: Taylor Swift Finally Chooses Between Conrad and Jeremiah, But It’s Not What You Think

Taylor Swift's Diplomatic Answer to The Summer I Turned Pretty's Conrad vs. Jeremiah Question Will Delight Fans

For devotees of The Summer I Turned Pretty, the love triangle among Belly Conklin and the Fisher brothers, Conrad and Jeremiah, has been hotly debated since the show’s inception. But today, a pop culture giant jumped into the fray: Taylor Swift.

The Grammy-winning artist, whose hit songs have become the show’s emotional cornerstone, was recently prompted while being interviewed by Ryan Seacrest on iHeartRadio and KIIS FM to pick between the two brothers. Contrary to her boyfriend Travis Kelce, who freely confessed to knowing very little about the show, Taylor came armed with a sincere and considered response.

“I’m Team The Summer I Turned Pretty,” Taylor started. “This show has — when I say this show has totally utilized my music in the most lovely, beautiful ways and with these pivotal moments in Belly’s life. I’m just, I’m here for whatever is next.”

Instead of picking between Conrad (Christopher Briney) and Jeremiah (Gavin Casalegno), Taylor shared that she felt a strong connection to the lead character, Belly (Lola Tung). “I’m with your decisions, girl,” she told Belly. “I feel like my songs are in her mind, so I’m definitely with her whatever she decides. I know that sounds — but I swear that I thought about this.”

Series creator Jenny Han was also swift to demonstrate her affection for Taylor’s reaction, sharing the clip with her Instagram Stories and making it quite obvious how thankful she was. With how deeply Taylor’s music is embedded in the series’ DNA, her words meant even more to seasoned fans.

Throughout three seasons, Swift’s music has been an emotional reference point for Belly’s own journey of heartbreak, growth, and self-discovery. Songs such as “Lover,” “Cruel Summer,” “This Love (Taylor’s Version),” “Bigger Than the Whole Sky,” and “Cardigan” have all appeared in key scenes. Most recently, the season finale featured “Dress” and “Out of the Woods (Taylor’s Version),” which heightened the drama of Belly’s ultimate decisions and increased the emotional stakes.

While Taylor didn’t go so far as to formally come out as Team Conrad or Team Jeremiah, her answer made one thing certain: she’s Team Belly all the way — and her music will continue to track every turn and twist of the narrative.
