Hosted by Karan Johar, The Traitors is returning with its much awaited Season 2. After the success of the first season, the makers have officially announced that the new season will premiere on August 13 on Amazon Prime Video. New episodes will be released every Thursday, bringing back the reality show that revolves around trust, deception and strategy. Along with the release date announcement, the makers also unveiled the first promo, which introduces the first 2 confirmed contestants, Mallika Sherawat and Munawar Faruqui.
The promo opens with Karan Johar talking about unforgettable betrayals and joking that some of them deserve a place in the “museum of Traitors.” It then takes viewers back to memorable moments from the first season, featuring contestants such as Purav Jha, Apoorva Mukhija, also known as The Rebel Kid, Ashish Vidyarthi, Uorfi Javed and Elnaaz Norouzi. The video recalls the intense mind games and unexpected twists that made the previous season popular among viewers.
Continuing the promo, Karan says that some former contestants are still dealing with “PTSD — Post Traitors Stress Disorder”. He then reveals that 21 new players will enter the palace for another battle where trust will be tested and betrayals could happen at any moment. Sharing the announcement on social media, Karan wrote, “Rise and shine, it’s dhoka time once again #TheTraitorsOnPrime, New Season with New Episodes Every Thursday, Aug 13.”
The promo also gives viewers their first look at the new contestants. While introducing Mallika Sherawat, Karan says, “Murder karna to inki fitrat mein hai. But will she kill in this game too or…?” He then welcomes Munawar Faruqui, calling him “the king of reality TV” and mentioning that he comes “all the way from Nagpada.” Their entry has already generated interest among fans who are eager to see how they perform in the psychological game.
Karan also hints that the new season will be more challenging than before. According to him, the contestants will not only compete in different tasks but will also have to deal with emotional decisions, shifting alliances and unexpected betrayals throughout the competition.
While only Mallika Sherawat and Munawar Faruqui have been officially confirmed, several other names are being linked to the show. The reported contestant list includes Dalip Tahil, Shweta Tiwari, Elvish Yadav, Shalini Passi, Sanjay Kapoor, Rubina Dilaik, Abhishek Malhan and Rhea Chakraborty, among others. However, the makers have not officially confirmed the remaining participants. Like the first season, The Traitors Season 2 will once again be set at the grand Suryagarh Palace in Jaisalmer, where the contestants will compete in a game filled with secrets, strategy and betrayal.
