Bobby Deol’s Voice Becomes Part of Dharmendra’s Final Film Ikkis

Bobby Deol lends his voice to Dharmendra’s younger version in Ikkis, adding an emotional legacy to the legendary actor’s final on-screen appearance.

Sriram Raghavan’s biographical war drama Ikkis is all set to hit theatres on Thursday, January 1, and the film already carries immense emotional weight even before its release. The film marks the final on-screen appearance of legendary actor Dharmendra, making it a deeply significant project in Indian cinema. Adding to the film’s importance, Ikkis also introduces Agastya Nanda, grandson of Amitabh Bachchan, in his big-screen debut.

Amid the growing buzz, a touching behind-the-scenes detail has come to light. According to The Indian Express, actor Bobby Deol has received a “Special Thanks” credit in the film. The reason? Bobby has lent his voice to dub a few dialogues for the younger version of Dharmendra’s character, Brigadier M.L. Khetarpal.

Dharmendra, who passed away in November at the age of 89, portrays M.L. Khetarpal, the father of Second Lieutenant Arun Khetarpal—India’s youngest Param Vir Chakra awardee. Arun’s heroic sacrifice during the 1971 Battle of Basantar forms the emotional core of Ikkis.

The makers described Bobby Deol’s contribution as a creative decision rooted in legacy. “This choice adds authenticity and emotional continuity, seamlessly bridging generations both on and off screen,” an official statement quoted by MensXP read. Bobby’s voice subtly enhances the portrayal of the character’s younger years, making transitions across timelines more intimate and impactful.

Interestingly, this collaboration brings Bobby Deol’s journey full circle. While many remember his debut as a leading man in Rajkumar Santoshi’s Barsaat (1995), produced under Dharmendra’s banner Vijeyta Films, Bobby actually made his first screen appearance much earlier. In 1977, at just eight years old, he played the younger version of Dharmendra’s character Dharam Singh in Dharam Veer, credited as “Master Bobby.”

Nearly five decades later, Bobby’s association with Ikkis feels symbolic—his voice now supporting his father’s final cinematic role.

Apart from Dharmendra and Agastya Nanda, Ikkis also stars Simar Bhatia, Jaideep Ahlawat, Sikandar Kher, and Deepak Dobriyal in pivotal roles.

On the professional front, Bobby Deol will next be seen in Jana Nayagan alongside Vijay and Pooja Hegde—marking Vijay’s final film before entering politics. He also features in Alpha, co-starring Alia Bhatt, Sharvari, and Anil Kapoor.

With its powerful story, emotional legacy, and layered performances, Ikkis promises to be both a cinematic tribute and a moving farewell.
