Vikrant Massey left fans stunned in December 2024 when he shared a heartfelt note about “recalibrating” and going back home, sparking widespread speculation that the actor was stepping away from acting. Many believed the message signaled his retirement from films to focus on his responsibilities as a husband and a new father. However, the National Award-winning actor has now clarified that his words were misunderstood and that he never intended to announce a complete exit from the industry.
In a recent conversation with Times Now, Vikrant opened up about the post he shared on December 2, 2024, explaining that the message was misinterpreted largely due to the word limit on X (formerly Twitter). According to the actor, he tried to condense his thoughts into a short post, but the full context failed to come across clearly. As a result, many assumed he was quitting acting altogether.
Addressing the confusion, Vikrant revealed that he was actually dealing with severe burnout at the time. “A lot of it was misconstrued. I just wanted to take a break. I was facing a severe burnout at that time,” the 12th Fail actor shared candidly. He explained that the past year had been emotionally and physically demanding, both professionally and personally.
In February 2024, Vikrant and his wife, actress Sheetal Thakur, welcomed their first child, a baby boy. While the arrival of his son brought immense joy, it also coincided with an extremely hectic phase in his career. Vikrant found himself juggling the responsibilities of a new father while simultaneously honoring intense work commitments. The pressure eventually took a toll on him.
Recalling a deeply personal moment, Vikrant admitted that he regretted missing one of the most precious milestones of his life—he wasn’t present when his son said “papa” for the first time. At that point, the actor was working on four films simultaneously, leaving him mentally and emotionally drained. “It is tough as is, but as artists, as actors, we are spending ourselves—mentally, emotionally. So, it makes you tired,” he explained.
Following his decision to step back, Vikrant took a seven-month hiatus from work. During this break, he revisited his own films and reflected on his journey as an actor. The pause allowed him to reassess his craft and ambitions. It was during this period of introspection that he realized if he truly wanted to grow and take himself to the next level as an artist, he needed to improve, evolve, and find better balance in his life.
In his 2024 post, Vikrant had also expressed gratitude for the remarkable opportunities that came his way. While acknowledging the success and recognition he received, he emphasized the need to “recalibrate” and reconnect with his personal life. His words about going back home were meant to signify a temporary reset—emotionally, mentally, and creatively—not a permanent goodbye to acting.
The actor had written, “As a Husband, Father & a Son. And also as an Actor. So coming 2025, we would meet each other for one last time. Until time deems right. Last 2 movies and many years of memories.” The emotional message concluded with him thanking fans for their unwavering support and expressing deep gratitude for everything he had experienced so far.
Clarifying his stance now, Vikrant’s message is clear: the break was necessary for his well-being, not an announcement of retirement. On the professional front, the actor is set to return to the big screen in Vishal Bhardwaj’s much-anticipated film O’ Romeo. The movie stars Shahid Kapoor and Triptii Dimri and is scheduled for a theatrical release on February 13, 2026.
With renewed clarity and balance, Vikrant Massey appears ready to move forward—both as an actor and as a devoted family man.
