Project Hail Mary Sees Strong Growth At Indian Box Office In Second Weekend

Project Hail Mary is performing strongly in India with steady growth and is expected to cross Rs. 50 crore soon at the box office.

The Hollywood film Project Hail Mary, starring Ryan Gosling, is performing well at the Indian box office. The science fiction film has shown strong growth in its second weekend, indicating that it is being accepted by the audience.

On its second Friday, the film earned around Rs. 4.50 crore, which is about 35 per cent higher than the previous Friday. The increase was partly supported by the Good Friday holiday, but the film had already been steady during the weekdays. This suggests that the growth is not only because of the holiday, but also due to positive response from viewers.

The film is expected to grow further over the weekend and may record its highest single day collection so far. After nine days in theatres, its total collection stands at around Rs. 34 crore. The second weekend is expected to add about Rs. 18 crore, which could take the total to more than Rs. 47 crore by Sunday.

Based on current trends, the film is likely to cross Rs. 50 crore by Tuesday. Earlier, this number was considered a possible total for its full run, but now it is expected to achieve it much sooner.

Looking ahead, the film’s performance in the coming weeks will be important. In India, Hollywood films usually do well if they are part of a known franchise or based on popular brands. However, some standalone films also perform strongly if they connect with the audience.

A similar example from last year is F1 The Movie, which collected around Rs. 125 crore in India. A large part of its earnings, more than Rs. 35 crore, came after the third week, showing that such films can continue to perform over time.

Project Hail Mary may follow a similar trend. It is expected to cross Rs. 75 crore, and there is a strong possibility that it could reach around Rs. 100 crore depending on how it performs in the next few weeks.

So far, the film is being seen as a rare success among standalone Hollywood releases in India, showing that audience interest can extend beyond franchise based films.
