The iconic film 3 Idiots, starring Aamir Khan, R. Madhavan, Sharman Joshi, and Kareena Kapoor Khan, is still one of the most loved films in India. Released in 2009 and directed by Rajkumar Hirani, the movie connected deeply with audiences because of its simple yet powerful message about education, friendship, and following one’s passion instead of blindly chasing success. Even today, people enjoy watching it again and again because of its humor, emotional moments, and memorable dialogues.
For years, fans have been hoping for a sequel, and now there is finally some exciting news. Aamir Khan has confirmed that 3 Idiots 2 is in development. In an interview, he shared that the story is already written and he finds it very interesting. According to him, the sequel will continue the journey of Rancho, Farhan, and Raju, but with a fresh perspective. The story will move forward by about 10 years, showing where their lives have taken them.
Aamir also mentioned that while the script still needs some improvement, the core idea is strong and unique. He said the sequel will keep the same humor and emotional depth that made the first film so special. He is especially excited to return as Rancho, also known as Phunsukh Wangdu, a character that became hugely popular among fans.
Apart from this project, Aamir Khan was also supposed to work again with Rajkumar Hirani on a biopic about Dadasaheb Phalke, but that film has been put on hold for now due to script issues. At the same time, there are reports that Aamir might play businessman Ashneer Grover in a future biopic, though nothing has been officially confirmed yet.
Currently, Aamir is busy supporting his son Junaid Khan’s upcoming film Ek Din, which also stars Sai Pallavi and is expected to release soon. With so many projects in discussion, and now the confirmation of 3 Idiots 2, fans clearly have a lot to look forward to in the coming years.
