Spider Man: Brand New Day has continued its record breaking run at the Indian box office. The Tom Holland starrer collected around Rs. 39 crore gross, or Rs. 32 crore nett, on its 2nd Sunday. With this collection, the film ended its second weekend with around Rs. 94 crore gross, or Rs. 77.50 crore nett.
The second weekend has become the highest ever for a Hollywood film in India. In fact, its second weekend collection is already higher than the second full week collection of most major Hollywood releases. It currently stands second only to Avatar: The Way of Water, which collected Rs. 120 crore during its second week.
After 11 days in cinemas, Spider Man: Brand New Day has collected around Rs. 485 crore gross, including Rs. 400.50 crore nett. The film has now become the biggest Hollywood grosser of all time in India, going past Avatar: The Way of Water, which had finished with Rs. 465 crore.
The film is expected to cross the Rs. 500 crore mark very soon. There is also a possibility of it reaching Rs. 600 crore if its strong trend continues. While the weekday collections had shown some drops and raised questions about its performance, the huge second weekend has changed the picture. The film has shown a strong recovery and is once again recording major numbers.
Spider Man: Brand New Day is now being considered an all time blockbuster in India. Only a small number of Hollywood films have reached this level of success in the country. These include Titanic, Avatar, The Jungle Book, Avengers: Infinity War, Avengers: Endgame and Avatar: The Way of Water.
The film could also become only the third Hollywood movie to cross 2 crore admissions in India. So far, Titanic and Avengers: Endgame are the only films to achieve that number. Spider Man: Brand New Day has already recorded around 1.65 crore admissions.
