Bhooth Bangla continued its steady run at the Indian box office in its fourth week. The horror comedy collected Rs. 1.25 crore on its fourth Monday. The film recorded only a 15 per cent drop compared to its fourth Friday collections, showing that it is still attracting audiences even after nearly a month in theatres.
In the first four days of the fourth week, the movie collected Rs. 9.25 crore. The film is now expected to close the week with around Rs. 12 crore to Rs. 14 crore gross collections. With this, its total collection is likely to touch the Rs. 155 crore mark soon.
Directed by Priyadarshan, Bhooth Bangla is expected to slow down from its fifth weekend because of the release of Pati Patni Aur Woh Do in cinemas. Even so, the film is still expected to finish its overall theatrical run with around Rs. 160 crore nett in India. There is also a possibility of the movie reaching the Rs. 165 crore mark if it continues to hold well over the coming days.
At the moment, crossing Housefull 5’s Rs. 168 crore total looks difficult, though not completely impossible. The film has already recorded strong audience turnout with footfalls estimated at around Rs. 85 lakh so far. Trade estimates suggest the final footfall count could finish in the range of Rs. 90 lakh to Rs. 95 lakh.
For Akshay Kumar, the success of Bhooth Bangla comes after a difficult period at the box office following the pandemic. Several of his films underperformed in recent years. Last year showed some improvement, with three films performing decently, although none of them reached HIT status. Bhooth Bangla has now become his first clear HIT in recent times.
Akshay Kumar is also known for maintaining a regular release schedule with multiple films every year. Trade circles often believe that frequent releases from major stars help keep the box office active throughout the year. Compared to many actors who now take longer gaps between projects, Akshay Kumar and Ajay Devgn remain among the few leading stars with a consistently high output.
