Sandra Bullock paid an emotional tribute to her late father, John Wilson Bullock, on Father’s Day by sharing a collection of personal family photographs on social media. The post included several rare images of her father with her children, giving fans a glimpse into a part of her private family life that is rarely seen.
John Wilson Bullock passed away in 2018 at the age of 93. In her tribute, Sandra first shared a throwback photograph of herself and her father from the premiere of the film “Forces of Nature” in March 1999. She also posted pictures showing him spending time with her two children, Louis and Layla, when they were toddlers. As she has always been protective of her children’s privacy, Sandra covered Layla’s face with a brown heart emoji in one of the photos.
Another image featured her father during his younger years while serving in the military. John worked with the United States Army and later served as a civilian contractor for the Pentagon.
Remembering her father, Sandra wrote, “He loved me through my goth period… Loved on the loves of my life… And loved our country at 18….”
She added, “Happy Heavenly Father’s Day, Dad. ❤️”
Sandra, 61, adopted her son Louis in 2010 and later adopted her daughter Layla in 2015. Although she rarely shares details about her children publicly, she occasionally posts personal family memories on special occasions.
The actress has previously spoken about the difficult period following her father’s death. In December 2018, she revealed that she lost her father and two beloved dogs within a short span of time. Her father passed away from natural causes, while one dog suffered a stroke and the other died from a heart tumor.
Speaking about that challenging time during an appearance on “The Ellen DeGeneres Show,” Sandra said, “Life, I realized, happens whether you schedule it or not.”
She admitted that while she initially believed she was coping well, her emotions eventually became overwhelming. Recalling one moment, she shared, “And then a week later I’m in the bathtub crying and the kids are like, ‘Is Mommy okay?’ Everyone is like, ‘Just leave Mommy in the bathtub. She’s going to be fine.’”
Last month, Sandra also shared rare family photos while celebrating Mother’s Day. The post included pictures of her children as toddlers, along with memories of her late grandmother and her mother, Helga Meyer, who passed away in April 2000 after battling cancer at the age of 58.
In that tribute, Sandra wrote, “To all the mamas, No matter how you came to be. Happy Mother’s Day. We are all bound by this honor of a lifetime.”
She also added, “Mom and Omi, thank you for teaching me. We miss you ❤️ Sorry I was such a brat.”
