Social media star and actress Uorfi Javed has opened up about why she has never attended the prestigious Cannes Film Festival, despite being one of India’s most talked about internet personalities. Known for her bold fashion choices and strong social media presence, Uorfi shared that getting an opportunity to attend Cannes has not been as easy as many people might think.
In a recent interview with Bollywood Bubble, Uorfi spoke honestly about the challenges she has faced. She revealed that several brands that usually sponsor influencers for Cannes have turned her down. According to her, some companies believe that the platform is meant for lesser known creators who can benefit from the exposure, while she is already a well known face on social media. As a result, she has often been overlooked when brands select influencers to represent them at the international event.
Uorfi also explained that attending Cannes independently is extremely expensive. She said the total cost can run into several lakhs, which is not something she is willing or able to spend. She admitted that spending around Rs 30 to 40 lakh on a Cannes appearance does not make sense for her financially. Because of these reasons, she has never been able to attend the festival.
When asked if she had ever received an invitation to be part of the event, Uorfi said she had never been approached. However, she also made it clear that she does not see it as a major loss. She explained that even if an opportunity had come her way, things might not have gone the way she wanted. In fact, she joked that perhaps God is protecting her from a situation that could hurt her ego.
Sharing her candid thoughts, Uorfi said that many people have unrealistic expectations about Cannes. She believes that some attendees spend large amounts of money just to walk a small section of the red carpet, while international photographers may not even pay much attention to them. According to her, people sometimes end up pretending that the experience is more glamorous than it really is.
