Obsession Creates History At The Indian Box Office Despite Huge Drop

Obsession has earned Rs. 93.50 crore in India, becoming the year's biggest Hollywood film and moving closer to the Rs. 100 crore milestone.

Hollywood film Obsession has continued its impressive run at the Indian box office, even though its collections slowed during the fourth week. The film earned an estimated Rs. 9 crore in Week Four, registering a 65 per cent decline compared to the previous week. While this is the first major weekly drop since its release, the film has still achieved an important milestone by becoming the highest grossing Hollywood film released in India this year.

With its latest earnings, Obsession has collected a total of Rs. 93.50 crore gross at the Indian box office. The film is now expected to cross the Rs. 100 crore gross mark during its full theatrical run. If it reaches that milestone, it is also expected to become the highest grossing Hollywood horror film ever released in India, moving ahead of The Conjuring: Last Rites.

The film has already gone past the lifetime collections of Project Hail Mary, making it the biggest Hollywood release of the year in India so far. Its strong performance has shown that audiences continue to support Hollywood films in theatres, especially when they receive positive word of mouth.

Hollywood has enjoyed a successful year at the Indian box office, with several original films and non franchise releases performing better than expected. Films such as Project Hail Mary, Lee Cronin’s The Mummy, Obsession, The Devil Weds Prada 2 and Michael have all found audiences and delivered encouraging box office results.

The coming months are also expected to remain busy for Hollywood releases in India. Trade analysts are closely watching the advance bookings for The Odyssey and Spider Man: Brand New Day, while major releases like Dune 3 and Avengers: Doomsday are also expected to attract strong collections. As a result, many in the trade believe that this could become one of the most successful years for Hollywood films at the Indian box office.

The week wise collections for Obsession are as follows. Week One collected Rs. 21.85 crore, Week Two earned Rs. 37.15 crore, Week Three added Rs. 25.50 crore and Week Four collected an estimated Rs. 9 crore. This brings the film’s total collection in India to Rs. 93.50 crore gross.
