Cocktail 2 Sees Big Drop After Strong First Week At The Box Office

Cocktail 2 collected Rs. 64 crore in its first week but saw a 20 per cent drop on Day 7 as it now faces competition from Welcome To The Jungle.

Cocktail 2 has completed its first week at the Indian box office with a total collection of Rs. 64 crore nett. On its seventh day, Thursday, the film earned Rs. 3.50 crore, which is around 20 per cent lower than its collections on the previous day. While the first week total appears strong, some trade observers believe the figures should be viewed with caution because they say the film benefited from external support during its run. According to this view, the collections might have been lower without those outside factors. However, the reported box office total currently stands at Rs. 64 crore nett after 7 days.

The film stars Shahid Kapoor, Kriti Sanon and Rashmika Mandanna and has maintained a decent performance during its opening week. However, its box office journey is expected to become more challenging from the second weekend as Welcome To The Jungle has now arrived in cinemas. The release of another major Hindi film could reduce the number of screens and audience attention available for Cocktail 2.

Trade expectations suggest that Cocktail 2 should comfortably cross the Rs. 75 crore nett mark, possibly by the end of its second weekend. The bigger question now is whether the film will be able to reach the Rs. 100 crore nett milestone before completing its theatrical run. That will largely depend on how well it holds in the coming days despite the fresh competition.

The film has already gone past the lifetime collection of the original Cocktail, which was released in 2012 and earned around Rs. 74.50 crore nett during its theatrical run. The original film was declared a Clean Hit. However, when adjusted for inflation, the original film’s performance remains stronger, meaning the sequel may still finish behind it in terms of real value.

The day wise collections of Cocktail 2 are as follows. Day 1 collected Rs. 12.75 crore, Day 2 earned Rs. 15.50 crore, Day 3 added Rs. 16.25 crore, Day 4 collected Rs. 5.75 crore, Day 5 also earned Rs. 5.75 crore, Day 6 brought in Rs. 4.50 crore and Day 7 collected Rs. 3.50 crore. This takes the film’s first week total to Rs. 64 crore nett at the Indian box office.
