Meghan Markle’s Presence Could Change Everything At Prince Harry And King Charles Reunion, Expert Says

Meghan Markle’s possible attendance at Prince Harry’s upcoming reunion with King Charles could carry major symbolic significance as the royal family explores reconciliation, according to a royal expert.

Prince Harry’s long-awaited reunion with King Charles III could take on even greater significance if Meghan Markle joins him, according to a royal commentator. Speaking to Page Six, royal commentator Amanda Matta said the Duchess of Sussex’s presence would send a powerful message that any attempt to repair relationships extends beyond Harry and includes the entire Sussex family. The expert also pointed out that Meghan’s relationship with King Charles has historically been separate from Harry’s ongoing tensions with his family.

“Meghan’s presence would certainly add symbolic weight to any reunion,” Matta said. “If Meghan accompanies Harry to the UK or to a meeting with his family, it would signal to the public that any effort at rebuilding relationships extends to the Sussex family as a whole.”

However, she doesn’t believe Meghan’s attendance would automatically make reconciliation easier or more difficult.

“It just changes the stakes,” Matta explained, adding that rebuilding trust within the royal family has always been the real challenge rather than any one individual.

“Historically, there have been indications that Charles made efforts to welcome her into the family, but she has taken a step back in recent years,” Matta said. “I see that as an acknowledgment that the Sussexes’ ongoing tensions with the royals actually stem from Harry and his own family.”

According to Matta, many of the issues Harry has publicly discussed, including media intrusion and palace culture, predated his relationship with Meghan.

While Meghan’s travel plans remain unconfirmed, reports suggest Prince Harry and Meghan will bring Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet to the UK next month for the children’s first visit since 2022. Harry is reportedly eager for his children to spend time with their grandfather.

The visit comes amid continued efforts to repair the fractured relationship between Harry and King Charles following years of public fallout after the Duke and Duchess of Sussex stepped down as senior working royals in 2020. Their subsequent interviews and Harry’s memoir Spare further widened the divide within the family.

Although Harry and Charles have reportedly taken steps toward reconciliation, Prince William is still believed to remain estranged from his younger brother.

Matta also believes public perception will depend on how the royal family handles the visit.

“If the public sees mixed signals, like suggestions of reconciliation alongside reports of ongoing or renewed tension, it would reinforce the impression that the royal family is still navigating unresolved issues behind the scenes,” she explained.

Should Meghan join Harry during the visit, it would mark her first return to the UK since attending Queen Elizabeth II’s funeral in September 2022, making the reunion one of the most closely watched royal moments in recent years.
