Known for hit movies like Despicable Me, Minions and The Secret Life of Pets, the studio is now taking audiences on a fun filled journey into space. The teaser, set to David Bowie’s famous song Space Oddity, introduces a colourful world filled with adventure, romance, comedy and lovable alien characters that are sure to entertain viewers of all ages.
The story follows Joe, voiced by Timothée Chalamet, who is a quiet and shy rocket mechanic. Joe enjoys living a peaceful life and prefers staying away from attention. His world changes when he meets Fran, voiced by Selena Gomez, a talented scientist who creates the world’s first rocket powered entirely by plants. The two are chosen to work together on the rocket’s first mission. While they slowly begin to develop feelings for each other, both struggle to express their emotions, leading to several funny and awkward moments.
Things become even more exciting when three tiny alien friends unexpectedly hide inside Joe’s home. The mischievous trio, named Dunk, Welly and Shirm, are running away from an overconfident but not very successful space police officer named Zandro. The aliens soon discover that Fran’s special rocket could be their only chance to return safely to their home planet. As a result, Joe and Fran find themselves caught in a thrilling space adventure that is filled with unexpected twists, laughter and heartwarming moments.
The film also features a talented supporting voice cast. The three adorable aliens are voiced by Rob Brydon, Diane Morgan and Jamie Demetriou, while Brett Goldstein lends his voice to Officer Zandro. Academy Award winner Allison Janney and Emmy winner Lamorne Morris also play important roles in the film, adding even more star power to the project.
Not Alone is directed by Eric Guillon, Claire Dodgson and Jonathan Del Val, who have all worked on some of Illumination’s biggest animated hits. The film is produced under the leadership of Illumination founder Chris Meledandri, whose studio has delivered several successful family entertainers over the years.
