Actor Gaurav Khanna recently appeared on Lock Upp 2 to support his wife, actress Akanksha Chamola. During their interaction, Gaurav asked Akanksha about her friends inside the show. Akanksha then introduced him to contestant Pamela and joked, “Pam mere girlfriend hai, maine girlfriend bana le already.”
Responding to the joke, Gaurav playfully advised her not to make such statements because people outside often take them very seriously. He said, “Maine dekh liya tera episode, aise tu bolti hai voh bahar mujhse poochte hai.” His comment came a few days after contestant Shreya Kalra claimed that Akanksha was bisexual during a discussion on the show.
Akanksha later addressed the matter herself. She said that Shreya had made the assumption because she is friendly and playful with many people. However, she also shared that bisexuality was one of her personal secrets. Explaining her experience, Akanksha said, “Shreya assumed this because I have a lot of fun with everyone. I never told her from my end that I am bisexual, but it is one of my secrets. I was bisexual before marriage. I have had some relationships with girls. While they haven’t been intimate, I have been in a relationship with a few females. I like women; it is my safe space. It’s a very male-dominated world, and so you develop a comfort zone with women. I love that feminine energy. I thrive on it. In a society where people think that girls are always competing with each other and are jealous, I don’t agree. I feel I am the only one getting exposed in this game since day one.”
The episode also brought attention to Akanksha and Gaurav’s marriage. The couple got married in November 2016. During the premiere episode of Lock Upp 2, Akanksha had revealed that they had been living separately for 18 months and were moving towards separation.
When Gaurav entered the show on Thursday, he clarified the situation. He said that they had only discussed separation and that no legal step had been taken yet. Gaurav explained, “We just discussed it, no petition was signed, nothing is official.” He added that legally they are still husband and wife.
Gaurav Khanna’s appearance on the show therefore became significant not only because of his support for Akanksha, but also because it gave both of them an opportunity to speak openly about their relationship and address ongoing speculation about their marriage.
