Spider Man: Brand New Day continued its outstanding run at the Indian box office by collecting approximately Rs. 14.75 crore gross or Rs. 12.25 crore nett on Thursday. With this, the superhero film completed its extended first week with an estimated Rs. 381.75 crore gross and Rs. 315.50 crore nett in India. Including 3D charges, the total India gross now stands at approximately Rs. 420 crore.
The film witnessed the expected drop in collections during the weekdays after an exceptionally strong opening weekend. It recorded a decline of around 20 per cent on both Wednesday and Thursday. Despite the slowdown, the performance remains strong considering the massive business the film generated over its first four days. Hollywood films often see higher collections during weekends before settling into a normal weekday pattern, and Spider Man: Brand New Day has followed a similar trend.
The film is now expected to witness another jump in collections during its second weekend as more audiences head to theatres. If the weekend performs as expected, the movie could continue its impressive momentum before entering the next phase of its theatrical run.
After just eight days, Spider Man: Brand New Day has already become the third highest grossing Hollywood film of all time in India. Based on current trends, it is expected to overtake Avengers: Endgame by Sunday. It is also closing in on Avatar: The Way of Water, with trade estimates suggesting it could become the highest grossing Hollywood release in India by Monday or Tuesday.
The film is also expected to comfortably cross the Rs. 500 crore mark during its theatrical run. Current projections indicate that it could finish with a lifetime India gross between Rs. 525 crore and Rs. 550 crore, provided it maintains its current pace over the coming weeks.
