Spider Man Brand New Day continues its strong run at the Indian box office and is now just a step away from reaching a historic milestone. The Tom Holland starrer collected Rs. 8.75 crore gross on its 2nd Monday, which is Rs. 7.25 crore nett. This was a 52 per cent drop compared with Friday. The film has also recorded a week on week drop of around 70 per cent.
After 11 days in theatres, Spider Man Brand New Day has collected Rs. 494.25 crore gross in India, while its nett collection stands at Rs. 408 crore. With the film already so close to the Rs. 500 crore gross mark, it is expected to cross the milestone by the end of today.
If it does so, Spider Man Brand New Day will become the first Hollywood film to collect Rs. 500 crore gross in India. Avatar: The Way of Water had previously come closest to this figure, finishing its Indian theatrical run at Rs. 465 crore. The current performance of Spider Man Brand New Day has also raised the possibility of the film entering the Rs. 600 crore club, although its final total will depend on how well it performs during the Independence Day weekend.
The film is also being considered an ALL TIME BLOCKBUSTER. Since Jurassic Park in 1994, only a small number of Hollywood films have reached this level in India. The list includes Titanic, Avatar, The Jungle Book, Avengers: Infinity War, Avengers: Endgame and Avatar: The Way of Water. Spider Man 3, 2012 and Furious 7 are also considered possible contenders depending on the classification used.
Another major milestone could be within reach for the Tom Holland film. Spider Man Brand New Day has already recorded around 1.65 crore admissions in India. If the current pace continues, it could reach 2 crore footfalls. Only two films, Titanic and Avengers: Endgame, have managed to reach that level so far.
The film had collected Rs. 323.25 crore nett and Rs. 391.50 crore gross during its first week. It added Rs. 14.75 crore nett on the 2nd Friday, Rs. 30.50 crore on Saturday, Rs. 32.25 crore on Sunday and Rs. 7.25 crore on Monday.
Its total after 11 days stands at Rs. 408.00 crore nett and Rs. 494.25 crore gross, with the gross total including 3D collections reaching Rs. 541.75 crore as reported.
