Netflix has released the official trailer for The Perfect Lie, a new Dutch drama series based on Saskia Noort’s bestselling novel The Dinner Club. The seven part series follows a close group of friends whose luxurious lives begin to fall apart after a deadly incident exposes the secrets they have been hiding.
The trailer introduces viewers to a group that appears to have everything. They enjoy expensive dinners, fine wine, beautiful homes and a comfortable lifestyle. However, behind their perfect appearance are lies, mistrust and personal secrets. As the story develops, their friendships begin to change and the group finds itself caught in a dangerous situation.
The story begins when Karen moves with her family to Bergen. She is welcomed into the dinner club, a group of friends known for their extravagant lifestyle. Karen quickly becomes part of their social circle and gets a closer look at the lives they present to the outside world.
Everything changes when one of the group’s luxurious villas catches fire. Karen’s friend Evert is killed in the incident, while his wife and children barely survive. The tragedy raises questions about what really happened and why the fire occurred.
Karen soon starts to realize that the friendship holding the group together is based on secrets and lies. Each person appears to have something to hide, making it difficult for Karen to know who she can trust. She decides to investigate and find out what is really happening, but her search for answers could put her own safety at risk.
The series is created by Dorien Goertzen, who also serves as head writer, with Jop Esmeijer as co writer. The story is based on Saskia Noort’s novel. Dana Nechushtan and Margien Rogaar have directed the series.
The cast includes Loes Haverkort, Remko Vrijdag, Noortje Herlaar, Edwin Jonker, Rifka Lodeizen, Matthijs van de Sande Bakhuyzen, Charlie Chan Dagelet and Teun Luijkx.
Produced by Fiction Valley, the series is scheduled to premiere globally on Netflix on 10 September 2026. The show will explore friendship, secrets, betrayal and the consequences of trying to uncover the truth.
