Alpha, starring Alia Bhatt and Sharvari, continued its run at the Indian box office with an estimated collection of Rs. 0.55 crore on its second Wednesday. The film recorded a 15 per cent drop from its second Monday collection. With this, the spy action drama directed by Shiv Rawail has reached a total India gross collection of Rs. 52.90 crore.
Produced by Yash Raj Films, Alpha is expected to finish its second week with around Rs. 53.50 crore at the Indian box office. The film is now in the final stage of its theatrical run. Based on its current trend, it is likely to end its overall box office journey with a lifetime collection of around Rs. 55 to 60 crore.
The film was released as part of the YRF Spy Universe, a franchise known for its action films. However, Alpha has faced challenges in attracting audiences. Female led action films have traditionally found it difficult to achieve strong box office numbers in India. This made the film a challenging project from the beginning.
Another factor affecting the film’s performance is the recent box office trend of the YRF Spy Universe. Following the underperformance of Tiger 3 and War 2, Alpha entered theatres at a time when audience interest in the franchise had slowed. Even so, the film managed to complete its theatrical run without major disruptions.
The report also highlights the approach taken by Yash Raj Films during the film’s release. According to the report, the production house did not engage in practices such as artificially boosting box office numbers. The same approach was reportedly followed during the release of War 2, with the studio choosing to present its collections without such methods.
Below is the day wise box office collection of Alpha in India:
Day Box Office Collection
Week 1 Rs. 45.25 crore
2nd Friday Rs. 1.30 crore
2nd Saturday Rs. 2.10 crore
2nd Sunday Rs. 2.20 crore
2nd Monday Rs. 0.65 crore
2nd Tuesday Rs. 0.85 crore
2nd Wednesday Rs. 0.55 crore (est.)
Total Rs. 52.90 crore
With its theatrical run nearing the end, Alpha is expected to add only a limited amount to its total collection before completing its box office journey.
