Chand Mera Dil Crosses A Major Milestone Despite Slowing Box Office Run

Chand Mera Dil has completed two weeks in theatres with a total collection of Rs. 26.15 crore nett at the Indian box office. The romantic drama earned Rs. 60 lakh on its second Thursday, helping the film close its second week with Rs. 7.90 crore nett. Combined with its first week collection of Rs. 18.25 crore, the movie has managed to cross an important milestone during its theatrical run.

One notable achievement for the film is that it has surpassed the lifetime box office collection of Kill, which marked Lakshya’s debut as a lead actor. While this is a positive development for the actor, the overall box office performance of Chand Mera Dil has remained modest compared to expectations.

Directed by Vivek Soni, the film stars Lakshya and Ananya Panday in the lead roles. Despite a decent start, the movie has gradually slowed down at the box office and is now entering the final phase of its theatrical run. Based on current trends, it is expected to finish below the Rs. 30 crore nett mark.

The film’s performance has been supported by promotional offers, including Buy One Get One ticket schemes that were available on most weekdays. Even with these offers, collections witnessed a steady decline during the second week.

Trade observers believe that mixed audience reactions played a significant role in limiting the film’s box office potential. While some viewers appreciated the performances and romantic storyline, the overall word of mouth remained divided. As a result, the film was unable to sustain the strong momentum needed for a bigger theatrical run.

The challenges faced by Chand Mera Dil also reflect the broader struggles of the romantic comedy genre in recent years. Since 2020, only a small number of romantic dramas have managed to become major box office successes, making it increasingly difficult for films in this category to attract large audiences.

The movie opened with Rs. 2.75 crore on Day 1 and reached its highest single day collection of Rs. 4.25 crore on Day 3. However, collections gradually declined over the following days. After 14 days, the estimated total stands at Rs. 26.15 crore nett, with the film now expected to conclude its theatrical journey in the coming weeks.
