Pati Patni Aur Woh Do continued its theatrical run with an estimated collection of Rs. 80 lakh on its third Monday. The film recorded a drop of around 20 per cent compared to its previous Friday, showing a relatively stable trend during its third week in cinemas.
Directed by Mudassar Aziz, the romantic drama collected Rs. 5.10 crore during the first 4 days of its third week. Based on its current performance, the film is expected to end the week with collections in the range of Rs. 7.50 crore to Rs. 8 crore.
With the latest figures, the film’s total collection at the Indian box office has reached Rs. 45.30 crore nett. While the movie is expected to finish its theatrical run around the Rs. 50 crore mark, that total may not be enough to significantly change its overall box office outcome. However, considering its slow start, reaching that level would still help the film finish on a more respectable note.
The film’s performance also highlights the challenges currently faced by romantic comedies at the box office. In recent years, only a limited number of films from the genre have managed to achieve major commercial success. Audience preferences have shifted considerably since 2020, making it more difficult for romantic dramas and romantic comedies to attract large theatrical audiences.
For comparison, the original Pati Patni Aur Woh was a Clean Hit and performed much better commercially. Starring Kartik Aaryan, the earlier film collected Rs. 80 crore nett during its theatrical run in India. Reaching that number has become increasingly difficult for films in the romantic comedy genre in the current market environment.
Industry observers believe that if Pati Patni Aur Woh Do had been released before 2020, it might have achieved a stronger box office result due to different audience viewing habits and a more favourable theatrical market for romantic entertainers.
The day wise box office collections of Pati Patni Aur Woh Do are as follows:
Week 1: Rs. 28.00 crore
2nd Friday: Rs. 1.30 crore
2nd Saturday: Rs. 2.50 crore
2nd Sunday: Rs. 3.25 crore
2nd Monday: Rs. 1.20 crore
2nd Tuesday: Rs. 1.30 crore
2nd Wednesday: Rs. 1.10 crore
2nd Thursday: Rs. 1.60 crore
3rd Friday: Rs. 1.00 crore
3rd Saturday: Rs. 1.55 crore
3rd Sunday: Rs. 1.75 crore
3rd Monday: Rs. 0.80 crore (estimated)
Total: Rs. 45.30 crore
As the film approaches the final phase of its theatrical run, attention will remain on whether it can comfortably cross the Rs. 50 crore mark and finish with steady collections despite the challenges facing the romantic comedy genre today.
