Welcome To The Jungle continued its run at the Indian box office by collecting around Rs. 1 crore on its third Friday. The latest figures show a drop of around 40 per cent compared to the previous day and nearly 75 per cent compared to the same period in the previous week. One of the main reasons for the decline is the reduction in screens after the release of Dhamaal 4. With the latest earnings, the film’s total collection has reached Rs. 122.25 crore nett in India.
Directed by Ahmed Khan, the comedy film is expected to collect around Rs. 5 crore nett during its third weekend. If that happens, its total box office collection will move close to Rs. 127 crore nett. Based on its current performance, trade estimates suggest the film may complete its theatrical run with around Rs. 135 crore nett in India.
According to current projections, Welcome To The Jungle is expected to finish below the reported lifetime collections of Bhooth Bangla, which earned Rs. 170 crore nett, and Housefull 5, which collected Rs. 168 crore nett. While the film had shown strong momentum during its first week and early second week, its pace has slowed in the third week because of new competition and reduced screen availability.
Despite the slowdown, the film is still expected to end its run as a successful release. Reports suggest that its production costs were kept under control despite being part of the well known Welcome franchise. This has helped the film remain financially stable even though its overall box office performance has been lower than some earlier expectations.
The Welcome franchise has enjoyed a strong box office history. The original Welcome was one of the biggest hits of its time, while the second installment also performed well despite not featuring Akshay Kumar in the lead role. Compared to those films, the latest installment has delivered respectable collections but has not reached the same level of box office success.
