Netflix is starting 2025 with a bang, unveiling the trailer of its upcoming prison drama series Black Warrant, which is set to release on January 10. Created by Vikramaditya Motwane and Satyanshu Singh, the series draws inspiration from real-life events, based on the book Black Warrant: Confessions of a Tihar Jailer, co-written by former Tihar Jail superintendent Sunil Gupta and journalist-author Sunetra Choudhury.
The trailer sets up Sunil Kumar Gupta, an individual entering this brutal, unforgiving realm of prison governance. As an Assistant Superintendent of Prison at India’s most dreaded Tihar Jail, Gupta soon finds himself surrounded by the three big responsibilities: Upkeep, Supervision, and Control. Gupta is soon set to face some of the cruelest scenes in one of the country’s most unforgiving prisons, set to deliver a tense and thrilling narrative.
