Filmmaker and writer Ida Ali, the daughter of director Imtiaz Ali, has announced her engagement to her longtime boyfriend Krish Agarwal. She shared the happy news on Sunday, July 12, through a short video on social media. The clip appears to have been filmed during a private beachside proposal and has since received warm wishes from friends, colleagues and followers.
The video begins with a peaceful view of a beach surrounded by mountains. Ida then lifts her hand to show her diamond engagement ring. Looking surprised and emotional, she smiles and briefly covers her mouth. A few moments later, Krish joins her in the frame and the couple takes a selfie with the scenic beach in the background. Keeping the announcement simple, Ida captioned the post, “01/07/26 11pm Ytresand,” revealing that the proposal took place at 11 pm on July 1 in Ytresand.
Soon after the engagement became public, many celebrities and friends congratulated the couple in the comments section. Actors Sharvari and Vedang Raina, who will be seen in Main Vaapas Aaunga, shared their wishes. Sakshi Shivdasani, Orhan Awatramani, popularly known as Orry, Manjari Fadnis and Aaliyah Kashyap also congratulated Ida and Krish. Many social media users appreciated the simple proposal video, which focused on the couple’s genuine reaction instead of an elaborate setup.
Krish Agarwal has mostly stayed away from the public spotlight. However, he has appeared in Ida’s social media posts over the years, where the couple has shared glimpses from their holidays and special moments together. The couple has not yet shared any details about their wedding plans.
At 26, Ida Ali has built a career of her own in the film and digital space. She first gained attention after directing the short film Lift when she was just 17. She later wrote the Amazon miniTV romantic drama Uljhe Hue and also founded Refresh, a digital platform that focuses on youth experiences and mental health conversations.
Ida studied filmmaking at Chapman University’s Dodge College of Film and Media Arts in California. She has also delivered a TEDx Talk about following creative dreams and dealing with the challenges of choosing an unconventional career. While she is known as Imtiaz Ali’s daughter, she has steadily created her own identity as a writer, director and digital creator. Her engagement announcement marks a personal milestone that she chose to share in a simple and meaningful way.
