The recent bail plea by Vicky Kumar Gupta, one of the accused in the firing incident at actor Salman Khan’s apartment in Bandra, sheds light on the motivations and circumstances surrounding the case. Gupta claimed the attack was not intended to harm Khan but to threaten him over the blackbuck killing incident, significant to the Bishnoi community. The incident was reportedly orchestrated by the Lawrence Bishnoi gang and executed by Gupta and Sagar Kumar Pal, with guidance from Anmol Bishnoi in Canada.

Gupta’s plea portrays him as a victim of circumstance, asserting his role was minor and driven by economic desperation. He explained his involvement came after losing his job during the Covid-19 pandemic and being misled about the mission’s nature. The special MCOCA court has directed the Mumbai police to respond to the bail application, with a hearing set for August 13. The chargesheet names nine individuals involved, with several currently in judicial custody.
