Actress Amruta Khanvilkar has issued a legal warning over reports about her personal life and her marriage to actor Himanshu Malhotra. A statement shared on social media on behalf of her legal team has cautioned people against publishing or circulating what it describes as baseless and defamatory information about the actress.
The statement comes after reports claimed that Amruta and Himanshu have been living separately for more than a year. While the actress has not directly spoken about the reports, her legal team has made it clear that such claims are being taken seriously.
The statement, titled “OFFICIAL LEGAL STATEMENT Effective from 10 August 2026,” said, “It has come to our attention that certain online, social media and digital platforms are circulating content concerning Ms. Amruta Khanvilkar and her personal life, which is baseless, defamatory and/or in violation of her privacy.”
The statement further said that freedom of expression is respected, but it should not be used to spread unverified information about the actress. Amruta’s team added, “While the right to freedom of expression is respected, any misuse of such freedom to publish, circulate or share defamatory statements, rumours, unverified allegations or misleading information concerning Ms. Amruta Khanvilkar will be taken seriously.”
Her legal team also warned that legal action could follow where there is enough evidence. The statement said, “Wherever supported by available evidence, appropriate legal action will be initiated against the individuals, entities or organisations responsible for creating, publishing, circulating or sharing such content, in accordance with applicable law. All such instances are being monitored and documented for appropriate legal recourse. – Legal Team Ms. Amruta Khanvilkar.”
Amruta and Himanshu first met on the sets of India’s Best Cinestars Ki Khoj in 2004. After dating for several years, the couple got married in January 2015. Later that year, they appeared together as contestants on Nach Baliye 7.
Amruta was recently seen in projects including Taskaree: The Smuggler’s Web and Tu Yaa Main. Himanshu has worked in films such as Phoonk, Himmatwala and Raazi. His television credits include Bhagonwali – Baante Apni Taqdeer, Love Marriage Ya Arranged Marriage and Chikoo Ki Mummy Durr Kei.
For now, Amruta’s legal team has said that reports concerning her personal life are being monitored and documented.
