Tabu has introduced her character Gauri Hegde from the upcoming film Slum Dog 33 Temple Road, directed by Puri Jagannadh. The actress shared a new video on social media that gives viewers a closer look at her role in the action drama, which stars Vijay Sethupathi in the lead. In the film, Tabu plays a strong and straightforward Income Tax officer who is not afraid to take on people who stand in her way.
Sharing the character video, Tabu wrote, “Introducing you all GAURI HEGDE,” and described her character as someone who is “fierce, fearless and always ready to stand her ground.” The actress also spoke about working on the Hyderabadi dialect for the role. “So much fun speaking the Hyderabadi dialect!” she wrote in the caption of her Instagram post.
The video presents Gauri as a powerful officer who is also described as the “devil in the department”. She is introduced as “ruthless, merciless and courageous”. Several scenes show her taking action against people involved in crime. She is seen kicking and slapping men and getting involved in physical fights.
Another part of the video shows Gauri questioning Vijay Sethupathi’s character. The clip ends with her clearly introducing herself as an Income Tax officer. “Gauri Hegde, Deputy Commissioner, Income Tax,” she says.
Tabu also thanked director Puri Jagannadh for creating the character and producer Charmme Kaur for helping bring the film together. Charmme Kaur reacted to Tabu’s post and wrote, “Can’t wait to show your power in the film Cheers to the most versatile actor.”
Fans also reacted strongly to the character reveal. One person commented, “Our fighter comes back woohoo,” while another wrote, “The Hyderabadi dialect??? Tabu, you’re about to have us all obsessed again.” A third comment simply read, “Absolute fire.”
Slum Dog 33 Temple Road stars Vijay Sethupathi in the lead role and is directed by Puri Jagannadh. The film released a gritty teaser in June and also features Tabu, Samyuktha, Duniya Vijay Kumar, Brahmaji and VTV Ganesh.
The film is being produced by Puri Jagannadh and Charmme Kaur under Puri Connects. It is expected to be an action drama with a strong focus on crime and conflict. The makers have not announced the release date yet.
