A tragic accident happened at the shooting location of film Mere Husband Ki Biwi featuring Arjun Kapoor, Bhumi Pednekar, and Rakul Preet Singh when the ceiling of a Mumbai studio collapsed. In the mishap, several crew members sustained injuries, including actor Arjun Kapoor and producer Jackky Bhagnani. Miraculously, though, there were no major fatalities.

The head of the Federation of Western India Cine Employees, BN Tiwari, confirmed that shooting has been stopped at the studio as safety measures need more improvement. “We have sent a letter to the Prime Minister and the Chief Minister of Maharashtra, highlighting the need for better health and safety measures for workers in the industry,” Tiwari stated.

The federation has been fighting for workers’ rights and better working conditions for decades,” Tiwari said. He expressed his disappointment about the lack of regulated working hours, job security, and appropriate compensation for the workers. “Such incidents take place every day but are often hidden under the rug,” Tiwari said in dismay.

The FWICE president held the studio owner accountable for the incidence, citing a failure to take care of the studio. “If the government does not react, film shootings may shift from Mumbai,” the president warned, hinting at the federation with-drawing workers from shoots if their demand for better work conditions is not met.
