Vicky Kaushal, who has again signed up for another ambitious project, has now been finalized to play the character of the mythological figure Lord Parashurama in an upcoming film titled Mahavatar. The project, coming from Dinesh Vijan and directed by Amar Kaushik, who marks his directorial history with Stree and its next sequel, will tell a grand tale about the warrior sage; the film is set to arrive in theatres around Christmas 2026. Kaushal broke the news on his Instagram, while expressing excitement regarding bringing the story of the “eternal warrior of dharma” to the big screen.

Apart from Mahavatar, there are quite a few major releases lined up on Kaushal’s platter:
1. Chhaava: The one with Kaushal and Rashmika Mandanna. Scheduled for December 6, 2024. Postponed recently in an attempt to not compete with Allu Arjun’s Pushpa 2. A new release date is yet to be announced.
2. Love & War: Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s film would likely star Vicky Kaushal, Ranbir Kapoor, and Alia Bhatt in a completely intense film. Reports went as far as suggesting that Love & War started filming on November 7, 2024, in Mumbai, where Ranbir Kapoor started filming the scene.
Kaushal’s latest signing of Mahavatar adds another layer to his growing repertoire of diverse roles, each of which proves that he is a versatile actor who can ride different genres, from mythological epics to historical dramas and character-driven romances. Fans have much to look forward to with these challenging roles in the coming years.
