Tabloids and pen-pushers of the film brigade routinely invest stars with their own brand of 'pet names.' Madhuri Dixit was labelled Mads ; Kajol turned Kadsoo; Vidya Balan was tagged as Vids (sounding like a sister brand of pain-reliever Vicks) and Kangana Ranaut was bestowed with the name Kangy (brings to mind an uber-chic kangaroo!).
These, fortunately, were not so terrible. One actress, unfortunately, wasn't quite as lucky.
Going from a harmless PC, a simple term of endearment, the saucy Ms. Chopra soon found herself conferred with quite a meaty name: Piggy Chops. This one, reportedly, was the brain child and gift of a feisty co-star called Abhishek Bachchan.
Of late, however, the GUNDAY gal has ample cause for angst. The 2010 National – award winner for FASHION, is being hailed as Pee Cee by tabloids, fanzines and the Fourth Estate, at large. Yuck, that makes her sound like an irresistible urge to vroom into the nearest washroom!
Govind Arun Ahuja – more famed as Govinda – was conferred the title of Virar Wonder, a stunningly decent nick-name. Funnily, though, his original and familial pet-name Chi Chi…. sounded like an urgent visit to the loo, by itself!
