Nine years after its original release, Sanam Teri Kasam, starring Harshvardhan Rane and Mawra Hocane, is enjoying a remarkable resurgence at the box office. Fans of the film are now eagerly anticipating its much-awaited sequel, and the directors, Radhika Rao and Vinay Sapru, have finally broken their silence on its development.
Open Invitation to Salman Khan
During a recent interaction with Filmygyan, the director duo was asked whether they would consider casting Salman Khan in Sanam Teri Kasam 2. To the delight of fans, Radhika Rao responded enthusiastically, saying, “Arey yaar, aapke munh mein ghee shakkar, but vo apni destiny ke maalik hain.” (May it happen as you say, but he is the master of his own destiny.)

Vinay Sapru humorously urged fans to take the initiative, saying, “Please, aap hi unhe bata dijiye. Unhe ye clip tag karke sir ko bheja jaye. Salman sir, please okay boliye.” (You only tell him, tag, and send this clip to him. Salman sir, please say yes.)
Salman Khan: A Longtime Mentor
Sapru further revealed that Salman Khan has been a mentor to them and expressed their excitement about the possibility of having him in the sequel. He even dedicated the song Sun Zara from Lucky (which featured Khan and Sneha Ullal) to him, exclaiming, “Sanam Teri Kasam 2 with you, sir.”
Hints About the Sequel
The directors also recalled how Khan had praised the trailer of the film in 2011, calling it “mind-blowing” but warning that the lack of promotion might hurt its performance. Despite this, the film has gained a loyal following over the years, prompting the team to plan a sequel.
Rao and Sapru confirmed that Sanam Teri Kasam 2 is expected to release in 2026. They also revealed that the original film’s final shot, where Inder (Harshvardhan Rane) walks toward the tree and speaks to it, was actually a subtle hint at the sequel.
As Sanam Teri Kasam continues to draw audiences back to theaters, fans eagerly await further updates on its much-anticipated sequel.
