Vicky Kaushal, shared poignant memories of his father Sham Kaushal’s struggles in an interview. Vicky revealed that his father, now a renowned action director, faced severe hardships in Punjab before moving to Mumbai in 1978. Despite having a Master’s degree in English literature, Sham Kaushal was jobless and once even contemplated suicide. Concerned for his well-being, Vicky’s grandfather sent Sham to Mumbai with a friend.

In Mumbai, Sham was prepared to take up any job, including working as a sweeper, to survive. His perseverance eventually led him to work as a stuntman, and in 1990, he got his big break as an independent action director with the Malayalam film “Indrajaalam.”

Reflecting on his own career choices, Vicky mentioned that while his parents were pleased with the idea of him securing a stable job after studying engineering and landing a job offer, he felt that a conventional 9-5 job would depress him. Despite passing with good marks and having a job offer, Vicky decided to pursue acting, a decision that made his family happy, as it symbolized the culmination of his father’s struggles.
