Those who’ve seen GOUR HARI DASTAAN can’t stop praising Vinay Pathak’s performance. He’s playing Gaur Hari Das in the film, a freedom fighter, who fought for more than three decades to get recognition.
“I was very influenced by Das. I got to learn that we don’t really value small but important things. I realised the importance of simplicity through him. He doesn’t fake simplicity,” says Vinay.
He further adds, “I was aware about his story before Ananth ji (film’s director) narrated the script to me, I was aware about it. It was a dream role for any actor.
Ask the actor if he was skeptical playing a character which is much older than his own age and Vinay says, “It was challenging and that’s why I agreed to do it. I was also very excited for it.”
And is it similar to what Anupam Kher did in SAARAANSH? “I can’t compare it to SAARANSH. It was a wonderful film. Even GOUR HARI DASTAAN is a good film. In fact, I didn’t even realise that Anupam ji had something similar when I started working on the film initially,” says Vinay.
Well, we hope Vinay keeps doing more such challenging roles in the future as well.
