Gal Gadot walks into a new chapter of her career, leaving behind the superhero persona of Wonder Woman and embracing the role of conniving Evil Queen in Marc Webb’s live-action adaptation of Disney’s Snow White. The film, set for release on March 21, 2025, revives the timeless tale with fresh eyes, featuring Rachel Zegler as Snow White and Gadot as the iconic villain.

Trailer Highlights
The trailer begins with the reflection of Snow White, as portrayed by Rachel Zegler, on her father’s kingdom and how the Evil Queen came into power after his death. It was not long before the life of Snow White took a darker turn, when the Queen’s Magic Mirror declared that Snow White, not the Queen, was “the fairest of them all.” Jealous and embittered, the Queen drove Snow White into the forest, where she found an alliance with the Seven Dwarfs in order to bring hope and transformation to the forest.

Finally, in a chilling climax: Evil Queen, disguised as old granny, offers poisoned apple to Snow White-an other timeless icon from the beloved cartoon.

The Mixed Reaction over Casting
Gal Gadot’s take on the Evil Queen has received praise and skepticism. Many are hailing her for her striking resemblance to Disney’s original animated villain and her potential to bring a fresh dynamic to the role. Comparisons to Charlize Theron’s captivating performance in Snow White and the Huntsman have left some wondering if Gadot can meet that standard. A fan said:”I mean, she’s more accurate to the animation Evil Queen than they were.

We haven’t seen the full scope of Gal’s version yet. It will be interesting to see her take.” The film has not been without controversy. The casting of Rachel Zegler as Snow White, a Latina actor, was controversial because the original story describes the character as having skin “as white as snow.” Disney also received criticism for choosing not to cast actors with dwarfism as the Seven Dwarfs, which sparked online criticism about representation in the film.

Creative Team
The screenplay is co-written by Erin Cressida Wilson and Greta Gerwig, riding high after her success with Barbie. With Marc Webb at the helm, the film aims to modernize the narrative while staying true to the spirit of the original.

Release Date
Audiences will be able to catch Snow White in theaters starting March 21, 2025. The movie promises a blend of nostalgia and modern storytelling, and Gadot’s Evil Queen promises to be a standout element of this reimagining.
