Donald Trump Faces Backlash After ‘Threesome’ Joke Involving His Sons During Public Speech

Donald Trump is under fire after making a “threesome” joke involving Donald Trump Jr. and Eric Trump during a public speech, reigniting debate over his history of controversial family remarks.

Donald Trump has once again found himself at the center of controversy after making an eyebrow-raising joke involving his two sons during a public speech. While speaking at the Theodore Roosevelt Presidential Library in North Dakota, the U.S. President spotted Donald Trump Jr. and Eric Trump in the audience and joked that he would give himself and both sons medals before saying, “We’ll have a threesome, okay?” The audience laughed, but the clip quickly spread across social media, where many questioned whether the remark was appropriate coming from the President of the United States.

On its own, some may dismiss the comment as another awkward attempt at humor. But for many critics, the reaction has been amplified because it is not the first time Trump has made comments about members of his own family that have sparked public discomfort.

One of his most frequently resurfaced remarks dates back to a 2006 appearance on The View, where, while discussing his daughter Ivanka Trump, Trump said, “I’ve said if Ivanka weren’t my daughter, perhaps I’d be dating her.” At the time, the comment drew immediate reactions from the show’s hosts, with one calling it “weird.” Trump’s spokesperson later said he was joking.

Whether these remarks are intended as jokes or not, many people argue that there are certain lines public officials simply should not cross. Leaders are constantly scrutinized because their words carry weight, and comments that touch on family relationships in this way are bound to invite criticism. When you’re the President of the United States, every off-the-cuff remark becomes part of the public conversation.

Supporters have defended Trump by saying the latest comment was clearly meant in jest and has been taken out of context. Critics, however, argue that the repeated pattern of similar remarks makes it difficult to brush them aside as harmless humor.

Regardless of political affiliation, the episode is another reminder that public figures, especially world leaders, are judged not only by their policies but also by the language they choose. In an era where every speech is livestreamed and every clip goes viral within minutes, even a single sentence can dominate headlines far longer than the event it came from.
